While on our conference tour in Wollongong, Australia, Anuradha and I were able to witness some of the beautiful creations of nature as well as mankind. We visited a few beaches, a lake and a bridge. I will walk you through the places in the order we visited them. 🙂
Lake Illawara
Lake Illawarra is considered as a coastal lagoon in the Illawarra region, New South Wales. Aboriginal Tharawal and Wadi Wadi peoples who live around the lake call it a “high place near the sea”, or “white clay mountain”.
Warilla Beach
The Warilla Beach extends for 2 km between Windang Island and the Barrack Point, New South Wales. It is a popular surfing and swimming beach. Coming from a country which is surrounded by the sea and full of lovely beaches, we were delighted to arrive at Warilla beach and feel a lovely sea breeze.
Sharky Beach
After visiting Illawarra Lake and the Warilla Beach on the first day, we visited the Sharky beach early morning the next day. It is located in Coaldale, Wollongong, New South Wales.
Sea Cliff Bridge
The Sea Cliff Bridge, located in Illawarra, New South Wales, is a balanced cantilever bridge and is part of the Lawrence Hargrave Drive. It is one of the seven off-shore parallel-to-coast bridges in the world. Since its opening in the year 2005, the Sea Cliff Bridge has become a renowned tourist attraction.
Coalcliff Beach and Rock Pools
The Coalcliff beach, located in Coalcliff, Wollongong, New South Wales, has a steep, narrow valley, surrounded by rocks and cliffs and looks quite scary when viewed from the Sea Cliff Bridge. At the southern end of the beach, you can find a saltwater pool, known as the Coalcliff Rock Pools.
Final Thoughts
I truly loved the weather in Wollongong and the natural beauty as well. If I could visit Wollongong again, I will definitely do it.
Hope you enjoyed reading this article and the photos as well. Let us know if you have visited these places and how you felt.
Cheers! 😀
